MEET YOUR COACH
I'M JENNIFER POWELL.
I Know What It's like to wonder why a life you chose can still feel so hard.
A childless stepmom in the middle of my own IVF journey, and a life coach whose approach is rooted in nervous system work. I help women like us make sense of why stepfamily life gets under our skin the way it does, so you can trade white-knuckling for actually feeling like yourself again, in your own home.
THE NIGHT I PANIC-BOOKED A HOTEL ROOM.
I fell hard for my husband and his two little boys. For a while, blending our lives felt surprisingly easy. Then we all moved in together, and something in me broke open. I remember walking into our den and seeing him curled up on the couch with his boys, feeling this immediate urge to pull back, like I was intruding on something that wasn't mine. That moment came to represent so much: jealousy I barely wanted to admit, grief for the child I longed to have myself, resentment I didn't know what to do with. I was living in what I now call the space in between, deeply invested in a family while still unsure of my place inside it.
During one especially hard stretch, I panic-booked a hotel room just to get away and think. I was convinced that if I could get quiet enough and reason my way through everything, I'd finally feel better. I was wrong. I just felt more stuck, overthinking every interaction, taking ordinary moments personally, trying to manage my own reactions while also trying to be the kind of stepmom I thought I was supposed to be.
MY BRAIN COULDN'T THINK ITS WAY TO PEACE — I HAD TO COME BACK TO MYSELF FIRST.
What actually changed things was learning to stop fighting myself and start getting curious about what was underneath it all. That work became the foundation of my coaching practice and my SPACE framework: Slow Down, Pay Attention, Ask What's Underneath, Come Back to Yourself, Engage With Intention. These days, the hotel stays have come full circle. I still take them, only now they're intentional, a way to recalibrate and remember who I am outside every role I hold. My marriage feels like a true partnership, my co-parenting relationship is genuinely good, and I'm still walking my own road through IVF and infertility. I'm not teaching from some perfect finish line. I'm right here in it, and I know how to help you find your way through it too.
How I work
BODY FIRST, STORY SECOND
We don't start with rehashing what happened this weekend. We start with what's actually going on in your body right now, then the story gets easier to untangle on its own.
YOUR REACTIONS AREN'T THE PROBLEM
Jealous, resentful, overwhelmed, touchy about something that seems small, whatever you're bringing, you're met without judgment. Your reactions make sense. We just get curious about what they're pointing to.
BUILT AROUND YOUR ACTUAL LIFE
Custody weekends, handoffs, holidays, the chaos of a blended-family calendar. Everything here is built to work in the real moments, not just in a session once a week. If you've ever needed a shared calendar app just to remember whose weekend it is, you're already fluent in the language this work speaks.
